2014 RECAP: HAPPENINGS IN THE GERBER SPACE

The first quarter of each year marks a time of assessment for our team. While we constantly strive to further improve how we operate throughout the year, we specifically set aside time at the beginning of each year to step away from the Gerber space, and into a secluded arena, for a chance to dive into everything ‘Gerber’ with an annual company retreat.

As we return from this year’s retreat and step back into our normal workflow we’ve come to realize, 2014 marked a big year for our team. But, topping financial benchmarks and recruiting new talent for our team were only the beginning to what made our 2014 awesome. Check out what made our year, below.

WELLNESS IN THE WORKPLACE | Our team kicked off our first round of wellness initiatives early in the year. Working hand in hand with fitness and nutrition professionals, team field trips to Whole Foods and group yoga sessions jumpstarted our team to healthy living in 2014.
 
 
ANOTHER CFP ® IN OUR SPACE | Congrats to our very own R.J. Swindaman on receiving his Certified Financial Planner™ certification! This milestone is one we’re extremely proud of. Not only is the CFP® certification one of the most respected certifications in financial planning, the intense coursework and newfound knowledge marks a boost in the financial wisdoms R.J. applies to working with and better serve our clients. GERBER DISCOVERY | Have you heard? Our team has put together a new, interactive series of events catered specifically to first generation entrepreneurs. As an added value for our clients, our team is pulling together the information and resources business owners look for to grow their business, integrate their lives, and manage the assets in their life. ANNUAL ENTREPRENEUR FORUM | January, 2014 marked another successful business owner’s forum in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. The four day, three night stay allowed our group of business owners to escape their traditional landscape for a change in scenery to share insights with fellow business owners. Photos here.
 
 
OUR TEAM CONTINUES TO GROW | Our office welcomed four new members to our team in 2014. Alison, Max, Katie, and Liz all joined our team this year introducing new processes and strategies to our current practices. Learn more about their specific roles within our team here.

FEATURED IN INC. | When did you know you were fit to survive the entrepreneurial journey? Each business owner has their story, and our founder is no different. Randy’s ah-hah moment was highlighted in Inc. with their article 4 Ways to Survive the Treacherous Entrepreneurial Landscape.

RANDY GERBER ACCEPTS THE ICE BUCKET CHALLENGE | Just as the philanthropic sensation swept the web, our very own founder was called upon to participate for the cause. Sadly, we do not have the video to share, but we thought leaving it to the imagination was just as effective.

BOURBON & BACON PARTY | That’s right. Our team brought together the two ingredients no man can resist, and made a night of it – hosting a bourbon tasting party, serving hors d’oeuvres to match.
 
 
GERBER NAMED A BEST PLACE TO WORK | Not only do we think so, we can prove it! Our team was recognized as one of the 2014 Best Places to Work by Columbus Business First for demonstrating a positive workplace culture, encouraging employee satisfaction and productivity. 2014 marked the first year our team has qualified to participate in the regional award – although our team believes we were one of the best far before it was ‘official.’
 

 WOMAN OF THE WEEK | One of the rockstars of our office, Jocelyn Sperko, was recognized for her leadership and successes by Executive Elementsas ‘Woman of the Week’. Still getting to know Jocelyn? Fun fact: her indulgence just isn’t the same without the ‘good’ cherries.

THAT’S A WRAP! | (see what I did there..) In December, 2014 our team hosted the fifth annual Gift Wrapping Party. Clients, friends and family gathered in our office for two full days of wrapping, food, drinks, and jolly conversation.
 
 

RANDY ON THE RADIO | Opportunity, risk, and hard work are only the beginning of the entrepreneurial journey. Our very own Randy Gerber was featured on the VoiceAmerica Talk Radio Network as a guest speaker discussing First Generation Entrepreneurs Planning For and Achieving Their Goals.

MOMS FOR GERBER | We like to think of ourselves as trailblazers – so seeing our names in Columbus CEO as such, shows us we’re doing something right. Our team was recognized as one of the few Columbus businesses embracing the added value of part-time employees.
