The first quarter of each year marks a time of assessment for our team. While we constantly strive to further improve how we operate throughout the year, we specifically set aside time at the beginning of each year to step away from the Gerber space, and into a secluded arena, for a chance to dive into everything ‘Gerber’ with an annual company retreat.

As we return from this year’s retreat and step back into our normal workflow we’ve come to realize, we made some big moves in 2015. Check out what made our year, below.

 

ANNUAL ENTREPRENEUR FORUM | January, 2015 marked another successful business owner’s forum in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. The four day, three night stay allowed our group of business owners to escape the typical work day, and offer an arena for shared insights and experiences with fellow entrepreneurs. ANOTHER FRIENDLY FACE | Have you noticed the new smile behind our front desk? That’s Maria! Our newest addition, Maria, heads our front desk communications – managing the Gerber calendar and answering incoming calls with a friendly hello. But that’s only a piece of her role within our team – learn more about Maria here.

 

 

COLUMBUS CHAMBER | Our work with business owners transfers to much more than investment reviews and customized content. We’re interested in every facet of the entrepreneurial lifestyle –which is why the Chamber is such a great place for our team. In 2015, our team became a new member of The Columbus Chamber of Commerce.

GERBER DISCOVERY | With over a year of action-packed Discovery events under our belt, we continue to provide the very best in content and information to our clients and partners. In 2015 Discovery united content experts and entrepreneurs to discuss everything from ‘Hiring in a High-Growth Environment’ to ‘Organic Container Gardening,’ and everything in between. LIVE! AT GERBER! | It’s not every day we get to introduce a TV crew into our space. Which is why when the thought of hosting a one of a kind Discovery event in conjunction with a local television show came to light, we couldn’t resist. Guests channeled their rockstars as WOSU show, Songs at the Center, brought its crew and three singer-songwriter into the Gerber space for a live taping.

 

 

GERBER NAMED BEST PLACE TO WORK | 2015 marked the second year in a row our team was recognized as one of the ‘Best Places to Work’ by Columbus Business First for demonstrating a positive workplace culture. While 2014 marked the first year our team has qualified to participate in the regional award, we’re working hard to continuously share just how great our workplace culture truly is. Our acceptance speech? “Gerber believes in the power of spontaneous dance parties.”

 

 

NAWBO | Our focus is exclusively first generation entrepreneurs because they are the innovative minds creating, leading, and pushing the envelope in our communities. So when we heard there was an organization bringing the female business owners in our community into one room, we were all in. In 2015 we proudly became a corporate sponsor for the National Association of Women Business Owners(NAWBO).

RJFS NATIONAL CONFERENCE | Our team went to Vegas! Not so much for the casinos and Elvis impersonators, but more so to expand our financial knowledge at the RJFS National Conference. The trip consisted of a four day, three night stay in the city that never sleeps, complete with continued education courses, informational seminars, and industry networking.

 

 

COLUMBUS STARTUP WEEK | Gerber and entrepreneurs go together like peas and carrots. So when we received wind of Columbus Startup Week, we knew we had to be there. Our team traveled all around the Columbus area to chat with some of Columbus’ remarkable business owners, and walked away with some great connections and content. Until next time, Startup Week!
